CNC Machining for Semiconductor Equipment Manufacturers
Semiconductor equipment operates in ultra-clean, high-vacuum and particle-sensitive environments where contamination and dimensional drift are not tolerated. ProtoTech works with equipment OEMs and subsystem suppliers who need machined parts that meet tight tolerances, stable materials and documented cleanliness.
We machine the critical components inside your tools: vacuum chambers, gas and fluid manifolds, wafer-handling arms, electrostatic-chuck bodies, precision stages and component mounting plates — in 316L (1.4404), aluminium (with controlled anodising) and engineering plastics such as PEEK and PTFE.

Semiconductor Components We Machine
We work from the perspective of the parts inside your equipment — not from a machine-count brochure.
| Component | Description |
|---|---|
| Vacuum Chambers | Small vacuum chambers, chamber sub-bodies, flanges |
| Gas & Fluid Manifolds | Gas delivery blocks, purge manifolds, flow paths |
| Wafer-Handling Arms | End-effectors, transfer arms, precision shafts |
| Chuck & Sensor Bodies | Electrostatic chuck bodies, detector housings |
| Precision Stages | Stage bases, guides, mounting plates |
| Sub-Assemblies | Multi-part precision assemblies with mating tolerances |

Materials for Semiconductor Equipment
Material choice drives outgassing, particle generation and corrosion resistance. ProtoTech machines:
- 316L / 1.4404 Stainless Steel — vacuum and corrosive environments
- Aluminium — structures and stages, with controlled anodising
- Engineering Plastics — PEEK, PTFE for chemical and high-purity routes
- Special Alloys — invar-class and other low-thermal-expansion metals

Capabilities for Critical Equipment Parts
- 5-Axis Machining — complex monolithic chambers and bodies in one setup → 5-Axis Machining
- Precision CNC Turning — shafts, pins, threaded parts → CNC Turning
- Swiss Machining — small-diameter precision parts → Swiss Machining
- Tight Tolerance Machining — repeatable ±0.005 mm class → Tight Tolerance
Quality, Inspection and Traceability
In semiconductor equipment, a single contaminated or out-of-tolerance part can compromise a tool. ProtoTech provides dimensional inspection, inspection reports, material certification and full traceability — so your quality team can qualify us for recurring production with confidence.
Our in-house metrology includes a Zeiss coordinate measuring machine (CMM) for full dimensional inspection and First Article Inspection (FAI), plus a benchtop material spectrometer to verify incoming stock against the specified grade. Every shipment can be supplied with EN 10204 3.1 material certificates and lot-level traceability, backed by ISO 9001:2015 (AENOR).
From Prototype to Recurring Production
We support the full lifecycle of your equipment program:
- Prototype — first articles and design validation
- Pre-Series — small batches before ramp-up
- Recurring Production — scheduled supply of multiple part numbers
- Series Production — volume supply with stable lead times
