CNC Machining for Inspection & Testing Equipment
Measurement and test equipment must be repeatable to a level stricter than the parts it measures. The fixtures and references inside them are only as good as their own accuracy. ProtoTech works with metrology instrument makers, test-equipment OEMs and calibration labs who need machined parts that hold dimension and stability over time.
We machine the structural and reference parts inside your equipment: metrology fixtures, CMM fixturing, test jigs, calibration artifacts, probe holders and gauge structures — in dimensionally stable aluminium, stainless steel and selected stable alloys.

Inspection & Testing Components We Machine
We work from the perspective of the parts inside your equipment — not from a machine-count brochure.
| Component | Description |
|---|---|
| Metrology Fixtures | Reference fixtures, locating fixtures, datum blocks |
| CMM Fixturing | Clamping and locating fixtures for CMM inspection |
| Test Jigs | Functional test jigs, test adapters |
| Calibration Artifacts | Gauge references, calibration standards holders |
| Probe Holders | Probe mounts, sensor holders, stylus fixtures |
| Gauge Structures | Gauge bases, frames, alignment plates |

Materials for Inspection & Testing
Dimensional stability and low drift are the priority. ProtoTech machines:
- Aluminium — stable, lightweight fixture bodies
- Stainless Steel — wear-resistant reference surfaces
- Special Alloys — low-thermal-expansion metals for reference structures
- Engineering Plastics — PEEK, POM for insulation and damping

Capabilities for High-Accuracy Parts
- 5-Axis Machining — complex monolithic fixtures in one setup → 5-Axis Machining
- Precision CNC Turning — pins, shafts, threaded references → CNC Turning
- Swiss Machining — small-diameter precision parts → Swiss Machining
- Tight Tolerance Machining — repeatable ±0.005 mm class → Tight Tolerance
Quality, Inspection and Traceability
For inspection equipment, the supplier must be able to prove its own accuracy. ProtoTech provides dimensional inspection, inspection reports, material certification and full traceability — so your quality team can qualify us for recurring production with confidence.
Our in-house metrology includes a Zeiss coordinate measuring machine (CMM) for full dimensional inspection and First Article Inspection (FAI), plus a benchtop material spectrometer to verify incoming stock against the specified grade. Every shipment can be supplied with EN 10204 3.1 material certificates and lot-level traceability, backed by ISO 9001:2015 (AENOR).
From Prototype to Recurring Production
We support the full lifecycle of your equipment program:
- Prototype — first articles and design validation
- Pre-Series — small batches before ramp-up
- Recurring Production — scheduled supply of multiple part numbers
- Series Production — volume supply with stable lead times
