CNC Machining for Special Machinery Builders
Special machinery is rarely standard. Every machine is a one-off or a small series with unique geometry, mating requirements and material constraints. ProtoTech works with OEMs and machine builders who design their own equipment and need a machining partner that can handle non-standard parts, iterate quickly and hold tight tolerances across revisions.
We machine the structural and functional parts inside your machine: bespoke brackets, frames, manifolds, tooling plates, custom housings and assembled sub-components — in aluminium, stainless steel, titanium and engineering plastics, including difficult special alloys.

Special Machinery Components We Machine
We work from the perspective of the parts inside your equipment — not from a machine-count brochure.
| Component | Description |
|---|---|
| Frames & Bases | Machine bases, support frames, structural plates |
| Bespoke Brackets | Mounting brackets, adapter plates, custom fixtures |
| Custom Housings | Enclosures, gearbox and drive cavities |
| Manifolds & Blocks | Fluid, pneumatic and hydraulic manifolds |
| Tooling Plates | Jig plates, locating plates, precision surfaces |

Materials for Special Machinery
Special machinery often combines standard and demanding materials in one build. ProtoTech machines:
- Aluminium & Stainless Steel — structures, frames, housings
- Titanium — high strength-to-weight subassemblies
- Special Alloys — Kovar, tungsten alloys, Permalloy and other difficult-to-machine metals
- Engineering Plastics — PEEK, PVDF, PTFE, POM for wear, insulation or chemical stability

Capabilities for Non-Standard Parts
- 5-Axis Machining — complex monolithic parts in one setup → 5-Axis Machining
- Precision CNC Turning — shafts, pins, threaded parts → CNC Turning
- Swiss Machining — small-diameter precision parts → Swiss Machining
- Tight Tolerance Machining — repeatable ±0.005 mm class → Tight Tolerance
Quality, Inspection and Traceability
For special machinery, a single out-of-tolerance part can stall an entire build. ProtoTech provides dimensional inspection, inspection reports, material certification and full traceability — so your quality team can qualify us for recurring production with confidence.
Our in-house metrology includes a Zeiss coordinate measuring machine (CMM) for full dimensional inspection and First Article Inspection (FAI), plus a benchtop material spectrometer to verify incoming stock against the specified grade. Every shipment can be supplied with EN 10204 3.1 material certificates and lot-level traceability, backed by ISO 9001:2015 (AENOR).
From Prototype to Recurring Production
We support the full lifecycle of your machinery program:
- Prototype — first articles and design validation
- Pre-Series — small batches before ramp-up
- Recurring Production — scheduled supply of multiple part numbers
- Series Production — volume supply with stable lead times
